Vinyl Decal FAQs from Nostalgi Factory answer common questions about materials, personalization, sizing, application, care, and ordering. Cut-vinyl decals and printed weatherproof stickers are different product types, so always review the material and application information on each product listing before ordering.
What is the difference between a cut-vinyl decal and a printed sticker?
Cut-vinyl decals are created from permanent outdoor vinyl and normally arrive with paper backing and transfer tape. They do not have a printed background. Our weatherproof stickers are printed, glossy, full-color products that use a standard peel-and-stick application without transfer tape.
Where can cut-vinyl decals be applied?
They work best on smooth, clean surfaces such as vehicle windows, glass, mirrors, painted metal, sealed plastics, memory boxes, mailboxes, and some tumblers. Textured walls, unfinished wood, fabric, and porous surfaces may not provide reliable adhesion.
Can decals be applied to tinted vehicle windows?
Yes. Cut-vinyl decals are normally applied to the outside of the glass. White and other light colors generally provide the strongest visibility against dark tinted windows.
Will a decal damage my car window?
A cut-vinyl decal should not damage clean glass when it is applied and removed correctly. Remove it slowly, and use gentle heat if necessary. Adhesion and removal results may differ on painted, coated, or delicate surfaces.
How do I choose a decal size?
The listed size is measured by the longest side of the design. Measure the available application area before ordering and leave enough space around the edges. Product proportions may cause the other measurement to vary.
Can I personalize the name, dates, color, or wording?
Many Nostalgi Factory designs can be personalized. Available options are shown on each product page. Carefully review all names, dates, spelling, measurements, colors, and wording before submitting your order.
How do I apply a cut-vinyl decal?
Clean and dry the surface, press the design firmly onto the transfer tape, remove the paper backing, position the decal, rub it onto the surface, and slowly peel away the transfer tape. Visit our How to Apply a Vinyl Decal guide for complete instructions.
How long do outdoor vinyl decals last?
Durability depends on the surface, placement, climate, sunlight, washing, and care. Our outdoor cut-vinyl decals are designed to resist normal water, sunlight, and changing weather conditions when properly applied.
